About this information

CCI07092015

Much of the information on the website has been taken from the book – Histories of Lyman Stoddard Skeen & His Father Joseph Skeen and other family members.

The Introduction reads:  No one has written a comprehensive history of Lyman Stoddard Skeen.  We have not written a history of his life, but have compiled all of the individual short histories available.  We have also included may of the short histories of his father, Joseph Skeen and his wife Maria Amanda Dolby.  We have also included a short history of Electa Dixon, Lyman’s first wife.  We were not able to find very much about Annie Skelton, Lyman’s second wife, but were able to find a history of Jane Ellen Glover and Stephen Skelton, Annie’s Mother and Father.  Several of Lyman’s grandchildren from the second family related many of the events they could remember and they are included.

Short histories of children from the first and second family are included with photographs of their families.

First Publication August 2004

Also recorded in that book, “This history was written and edited by Dorothy T. Cook, with the help of Lorraine P. Skeen whose extensive research has helped to compile the many stories collected.  Other contributions from Margaret Freestone, Lyman “Sunny” Freestone, and many of the descendants of Lyman Stoddard Skeen for their histories of his children.  Many of the pictures were gathered by Lyman H. Cook for the Plain City History Book and his collection of early Plain City History.”

There is so much more information available today and so I have added obituaries, newspaper articles and pictures.
